Stockport Council are proposing to slash black bin collections to every 3 weeks in a move that delivers no savings to the overall local budget. Hazel Grove Councillor Oliver Johnstone, has started a petition to oppose this plan as it would leave resident’s struggling for an extra week and fly-tipping would soar beyond already unacceptable levels.

Oliver said, “Hazel Grove residents deserve better from the Council. In Hazel Grove, as with the rest of Stockport, we have adapted to the new recycling regime introduced around 5 years ago and our recycling rates are excellent. Now the Council want to slash the service further yet this does not even reduce costs – it is utter madness!”

Sign the petition and join Cllr Oliver Johnstone’s campaign against three weekly black bin collections.
